Meenakshi Goswami, a luminary in education and literature, is a retired Principal of a Higher Secondary School in Sonitpur, Assam, whose remarkable contributions, during her dedicated service of 35 years, earned her prestigious accolades. She is the sole recipient of the National Awards to Teachers 2022, conferred by Her Excellency, the President of India, on September 5, 2022. Her exemplary service as an educator was further honored with the State Award for Teachers by the Government of Assam in 2018 and the coveted Oil Shikshya Ratna Puraskar in 2016, recognizing her all-encompassing excellence as an educationist.
A distinguished poet and resource person in English, Meenakshi's literary prowess shines through her widely cherished poetry collections, The Sensuous Zephyr and Waltzing Words, published by the renowned Delhi-based Authorspress. Her evocative poems, articles, and short stories grace numerous national and international anthologies, including a notable 2023 publication by Sahitya Akademi. As an eloquent interpreter of poetry, she has captivated audiences at poetry festivals across India and abroad. Beyond her literary and educational achievements, Meenakshi is a dynamic figure in the cultural and community spheres. A member of the North East Writers' Forum, India, she also engages actively in sports organizations and excels as an anchor at various events both at the National and International level. Her unwavering dedication to human resources, the arts, and culture earned her recognition from the Indian Medical Association on International Women's Day 2007 and from the Government of Assam on Republic Day 2019. As President of ISPELL Assam (Indigenous Society for the Promotion of English Language and Literature) and a committed member of the Lions Club of Greater Tezpur, she embodies the ethos of "Serving to Lead and Leading to Serve," leaving an indelible mark on education, literature, and society.
