Yogendra Tripathi belonged to the Bihar Administrative Service. He was Executive Officer of several urban local self-governments and Secretary of the Patna Municipal Corporation. Had a long experience of dealing with urban governance as part of his tenure at the Bihar Government Secretariat. He was associated with the first State Finance Commission of Bihar and after superannuation, he became the Director of the Patna based K.N. Sahay Institute of Environmental and Urban Studies and devoted his life as an avowed urban local self-government activist.
