Basic Information
Dr. Surendran V has currently been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry since July 2020. Prior to this, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry. He completed his MBBS in 2013 and MD in Community Medicine in 2019 from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry under Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University. He earned his DNB in Community Medicine from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences in 2021. He further enhanced his qualifications with an MBA in Healthcare Management from Suresh Gyan Vihar University in 2023 and a PG Diploma in Family Medicine from Christian Medical College, Vellore in 2024. Dr. Surendran has demonstrated academic excellence throughout his career, receiving the Gold Medal for academic excellence in MD Community Medicine at the university level. His research contributions have been recognized by Dr. C.K. Ramchandar Centenary Award for the Best Scientific Paper Presentation at the 68th IAOH National Conference (OCCUCON-2018) in Pune, and the Golden Jubilee Award for the Best Scientific Paper Presentation at the 69th LAOH National Conference (OCCUCON-2019) in Rajkot. He has published 15 research papers in various national and international journals and has heen involved in 6 extra-mural funding projects. He also holds four copyrights and currently has 12 ongoing research projects due for publication. He has a keen interest in medical education technology with a focus on innovative teaching-learning methods for community medicine and public health. He is passionate about incorporating field-based experiential learning approaches and developing competency-based assessment tools for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
