Sankar Sarkar is a global poet, focusing on various themes related to each and every aspect of life. His powerful overflow of emotions recollected in tranquillity gets a shape in beautiful words on papers. It’s like a maiden adorned with jewels. The collection of poems entitled ECHO OF BUBBLE is an assimilation of spirit and matter, soul and mind, life and death, abstract and concrete and so on. Echo of Bubble is a poet’s new craftsmanship in contemporary literature.
‘OPEN LETTER’ is the poem, transporting to More’s Utopia and then to Kurukshetra with Arjuna and Krishna and culminating in Brahma. ‘Our Poem’ is the ocean of words and ebb of emotions. It describes love 'From electronic to platonic, from supernatural to cosmic.... from clown to the crown, of all ages to come from genesis....'
‘Om’ is the Indian culture leading to the path of shanti. ‘Integration’ gives an image of a phoenix emerging out of its ashes in a new avatar. ‘We are in touch’ like the roots of a tree...like a drop of a rain’ and ‘Don’t Die’ are poems of hope and life. ‘Salute’ is the message of G20: Vasudhaiva Ktumbakam. ‘The Indian’ is the spirit of nationality and ‘Song of Dust’ reminds us of Tagore. ‘Seeking Identity’ and ‘Meaningless’ are Emersonian flashes of American twenties. ‘No Disparity, Equality’ makes us nostalgic of the slogan of the French Revolution. Camus Absurdity, Sartre’s Nothingness or Aestheticism of Poetry, you name it and get it in the pages of this collection. Even Romantic age with beauty, truth, love even ‘Dorothy’ gets a loving place in the heart of this book. ‘Victory of Love’ and many more such titles focus on the positive and optimistic side of life.
BREAKING reminds us of transmigration of the Vedas. Everything is changing amid breaking:
‘Breaking is an abiding tune of life
And turns all into perpetuity
As long as breaking exists
The concept of totality is active’
TRYST is an illustrious poem and with this poem, Sankar Sarkar completes this Echo of Bubble. Wherever we go, we have to come back to this earth. Life revolves through birth and death on this earth. The poet determines that he will again come back and meet his beloved here. This reminds me of the sonnet “Since there’s no help” by Michael Drayton.
Life means optimism
‘Whether in person or persona
We’ll meet anywhere else, then’
INTEGRATION leads to philosophical constraints of life and transcendental world:
‘I am a bit of a cause
of the great cause
To cause this universe
Both diversity and conformity
Cause me to realize the integration
Of body and mind’
So, the natural gust will flow again in a new form in future that I am sure and wish Sankar a bright sunshine of success in the poetic sky.
