Essentials of Genetics, a textbook, aims to cater the needs of the students of life science in pursuit of NEP 2020. The book shall be helpful to the Undergraduate students of Universities and colleges in gaining the basic knowledge of Genetics and its principles. Attempts have been made by the authors to impart the clear understanding of the Genetic principles with relevant diagrams, figures and illustrations. The cited material has been duly acknowledged. An up-to –date list of major achievements/ milestones have been incorporated which definitely will assist the students preparing for competitive examinations.

The manuscript has been prepared with immense efforts though some factual and printing error may creep. There is always a room for improvement.  The authors welcome the suggestions and remarks for future editions of the book.
