Technology, Media and the 'Youth': Exploring the Context of Sustainable Development and Growth

„Youth‟ is the power and future of all the nations; hence to empower nations, there is a need to empower their youth. There is no magic wand which runs to make this magic done; there is a need of thorough research and efficacious policy making. Research organizations; educational institutions, ministries involved in development of youth and children; non-governmental organizations, social activists and other bodies need to pool in efforts to understand the mind set and mental health of the young boys and girls from different regions of the nations; of course with an interdisciplinary approach for more fruitful discourses and results. Social change influences lives of humans very fast. Children are mentored by the elderly generations to mend the impact of this change and the older generations are trained by life itself to manage these impacts. The most sensitive and „at risk‟ community is that of the youth, which becomes prey to dysfunctional changes occurring around, due to lack of patience and immaturity. „youth‟ as a community needs hand holding in many contexts. The present book entitled, “Technology, Media and „Youth‟: Exploring the Context of Sustainable Development and Growth” an academic engineering task which relates life of youth with that of the technology and technological advancements impacting communication patterns; living styles and privacy; and also social media which, to a large extent influences the mind set, political and sociocultural rubrics of their personalities. Today, technology and media are together shaping the characters of the youth, which further influences their learning, development, growth and settlement too. Not only these aspects, technology has also lead to emergence of newer forms of criminality also inclusive of sex crimes, cyber crimes, fake identities and the like; and all this needs to be supervised and guided for functional outcomes.
