Feeling great pleasure to present before our esteemed readers and learned scholars this book on Hepatological perspective on the genesis of human temperament. This book based on the concept of Unani System of Medicine serves as an essential bridge between ancient insights and modern medical science. Every medical theory is based on observations and reasoning and every period think with the concepts available at the time. The founders of Unani system of Medicine, short of all means and appliances of the modern technology has tried to understand human body through their logical and philosophical approach, which formed the basis of the modern medical science. The need of having a book exploring the basic concepts of Unani Medicine has been felt since long. Correlation of Unani principles and philosophies with the modern discoveries have always been a challenge. In this book an attempt has been made to combat challenges by giving scientific orientation to our Unani fundamentals. This book has been written from my thesis work entitled-A study for the determination of Bilious and Phlegmatic temperament with the help of Biochemical markers of Liver function. The study was undertaken with the objective of evaluation of liver function test levels in the individuals having bilious and phlegmatic temperament and to find out for any variation and deviation from the physiologically normal range. Based on the Unani concept that liver plays an important role in the formation of Human temperament, this thesis work was carried for the first time. Prior no such work was carried on this Unani principle but very disheartening to mention here that later PG scholars copied some part of thesis based on this Unani principle and also published research papers in journals without mentioning the reference of my thesis.
