Metaheuristic Approaches to System Identification

The rapid advancement of intelligent systems and computational methods has created new opportunities for addressing complex engineering problems. Among them, system identification the process of developing mathematical models of dynamic systems based on observed data plays a vital role in control systems, signal processing, and a variety of engineering applications. In recent years, metaheuristic algorithms have emerged as powerful tools for solving system identification problems, especially those characterized by nonlinearity, uncertainty, and high dimensionality. This book, Metaheuristic Algorithms for System Identification, presents a comprehensive overview of various metaheuristic techniques and their application in identifying dynamic systems with high accuracy and efficiency. The objective of this book is twofold: First, to provide a foundational understanding of system identification and the challenges associated with it; and second, to explore the potential of nature inspired optimization algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Teacher Learner based Optimization (TLBO), Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), and othersin overcoming those challenges. The contents of this book reflect not only established methodologies but also incorporate insights from my own research contributions. The comparative studies, experimental results, and algorithmic enhancements discussed here are intended to assist both newcomers and experienced researchers in the field. I sincerely hope this book serves as a valuable resource for students, researchers, and practitioners who seek to apply intelligent optimization strategies to real-world system identification problems.
