Our Time Revisited

Our Time Revisited  is a book containing  the essays and articles  on man, society  and literature  of the  East  and the West. These were all published in printed  version of Indian National  dailies or in Supplements  for years together . In these writings I used to record my musings on varied aspects of life  and society as in the contemporary issues which contains on the one hand my logical analysis of events and also the passionate perception of the very essence of  life and literature. The issues which shook the country and the world at the time are all attempted and I wanted to show how the world engaged the attention of the writers and poets as well as the politicians in multiple situations. These articles can be regarded as a roadmap leading us to a world of intellectual engagement and academic or intellectual discourses  that I wanted to record for the media . Some articles are the outcome of serious  case studies and in-depth research  which will make the book a useful document to understand  the time that we passed and the revisiting of the time  at present moment . The musings which I did on topical issues are gaining a value that may endure the test of time. They are more than newspaper articles. In fact, I shared myi experiences as a n academician and a person of creative mind shared them with the media world as journalism was my passion even in my busy schedule as a seniormost professor  who has worked as Head of PG English Department in Dum Dum Motijheel College, as Guest faculty in Rabindra Bharati and Vidyasagar University and later as Affiliate Faculty of Virginia Commonwealth University. I had a versatile capability to work on multiple levels as a poet, a short story writer , as a speaker  and as a  traveler with unquenched thirst for  seeing the world in its ugliest or most beautiful moments . I visited many universities in India and abroad and recorded my experiences as a researcher in many articles. I taught in areas of Gender Studies, Fourth World Literature, Post colonial literature  and Afro- American literature besides my main area of American literature  on which I did my specialization . I hope my book will ignite the flame of knowledge for the future scholars and intellectuals to delve deeper on the subjects which I brought before them as as a multilingual columnist and   lover of learning.
