Text Book of Engineering Mechanics

I am glad to present the book entitled “Text Book of Engineering Mechanics” to the engineering students undergoing Diploma courses in all branches under SCTE & VT, Odisha. It is also fulfilled to the latest syllabus in the subject introduced in all the states of India. The course contents have been planned in such a way that the general requirements of the students are fulfilled.

During my experience of teaching engineering students, I have observed that students face difficulty in understanding clearly the basic principles, fundamental concepts, and theory without adequate solved problems along with the text. To meet this very basic requirement of the students, a large number of questions have been solved along with the text in S.I. units.

The book is written in simple and easy-to-follow language so that all students can grasp the subjects through self-study. At the end of each chapter, theoretical questions, objective questions with answers, and many unsolved numerical problems with answers are given for the students to solve.

Though every care has been taken in checking the manuscripts and proofreading, yet claiming perfection is difficult. I shall be very grateful to the readers of this book for pointing out any mistakes, and constructive suggestions for improvement are most welcome and will be incorporated in the next edition with a view to making the book more useful.
