Dr. Astha Parashar has been serving as an Assistant Professor at Hindu Girls College, Sonipat since 2013. Her areas of interest are feminism and children's literature. She has presented research papers at fifteen national and international conferences. She has published ten research papers in national and international journals. She has authored the book entitled Challenging Gender Stereotypes in Selected Fairy Tales: A Study of Movie Adaptations and Modern Retellings. Through the lens of selected literary texts, the present book makes an attempt at illuminating the gender dynamics in the most popular entertainment and socializing tool for children, i.e., classical fairy tales. It significantly contributes to stimulating the critical faculties of its reader to revisit not only the selected classical fairy tales but also their modern retellings and movie adaptations from a feministic perspective.
