Professor B. R. Pant (born 1962), is a head of the department of Geography, M. B. Government Post Graduate College, Haldwani (Nainital) affiliated with the Kumaun University Nainital. He did his schooling – elementary and secondary and under graduate from a remote area of Almora district of Uttarakhand and his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Thakur Dev Singh Bisht Campus, Kumaon University, Nainital in the years – 1984 and 1990, respectively. He is a Post-Doctoral Fellow of CSIR from the same department and college. Dr Pant has been constantly working in the field of Environment, Land use, Nutrition, Population etc. He has published nine widely acclaimed books- FOOD AND NUTRITION, GLIMPSES OF CENTRAL HIMALAYA (Eds.), GEO-ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT AND NUTRITION, ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY IN THE HIMALAYAN REGION, WOMEN AND NUTRITION IN HIMALAYA, TRIBAL DEMOGRAPHY IN INDIA, DEMOGRAPHIC STUDY OF THE INDIAN HIMALAYAN REGION, UTTARAKHAND JANSANKHYA PARIDRISHYA EVAM PARIVARTAN AND GEOGRAPHICAL STUDY OF THARU TRIBE. He has more than 120 insightful research papers to his credit published in various national and international journals and books. He has successfully completed one minor and one major research projects funded by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Dr. Pant has also worked as Registrar and Examination Controller of Uttarakhand Open University Haldwani. He was also the coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college. He has been associated with various academic, administrative, competitive, geographical, environmental, social associations and other government and non - government organizations. Dr. Pant is Vice President and Founder Member of Geographical Society of Uttarakhand. Department of Higher Education, Government of Uttarakhand has selected Dr Pant as a member of Climate Change Cell. He has been nominated as a Member of the Executive Council and Board of Studies of the Geography of the Kumaon University Nainital, S S JEENA.
