Basic Information
Dr. Joydip Chandra was born and brought up in a subdivision town of Nadia in West Bengal. At the University of Kalyani, he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Library and Information Science. He took first position in both of the competitions. He completed his Ph.D. at Jadavpur University under the supervision of Dr. Sunil K. Chatterjee after qualifying the U G C N E T. In 2004, he received the Society of InformationScience's Best Student Paper award. At the start of his career, he worked at IIT Kharagpur. He has a number of publications to his name, including papers in journals and conference proceedings and chapters in edited books. He worked as the principal investigator to create a digital library of multilingual text for a UGC-sponsored project. He is currently working to establish a V-Books library for the undergraduate students with funding from BRSC for a different minor research project.He served as a guest faculty member at Bengal Library Association, Jadavpur University, Kalyani University and Rabindrabharati University. In addition to serving as the librarian at BarrackporeRastraguruSurendranath College since 2009, he also serves as a guest faculty member at West Bengal State University. He is also a member of the Bengal Library Association and the Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres. Dr Chandra was Associate Editor of IASLIC Newsletter. He has also edited BRSN Vision (ISSN 2348-7361).
