Dr. R. Gangai Selvi, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Statistics at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is a young and energetic PG, PhD teacher and Guide also Advisory committee member in Statistics handling statistics courses for under graduate, post graduate of Master and Doctoral students and guiding research scholars during the last 15 years. She holds B.Sc., M.Sc., in Statistics with distinction at PSG College of Arts and Science, Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, M.Phil., in Statistics at Bharathidasan University, Trichy and Ph.D., in Econometrics with specialization of Spatial Econometrics at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She has developed the Android Mobile App "TNAU Statistics Quiz" published under Google Play Store with free of cost for the aspirants of ICAR-JRF and other competitive examinations exclusively statistics MCQ's. She is a recipient of Scientist Associate Award 2014, Young Scientist Award (YSA 2021), Highly Effective 100 Teachers Award 2022, Best Social Scientist Award 2022, Young Achiever Award 2022, Best Faculty Award from IARA 2022, Platinum Achievers Award from CAPA and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Best Teacher and Researcher Award from IMRF in the eve of National Teacher's day 2022. She has undergone a Trainers Training on Data Analysis using SAS software at NAARM, Hyderabad also Winter school at IASRI, New Delhi. She has organized and conducted 7 Training programmes on Data Analysis using SAS and SPSS for the benefit of TNAU scientists. Also she served as a resource person for the training programmes. She has actively participated in the various trainings, conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia in the field of Applied Statistics and Data Analytics. She is an author of the text book Applied Statistics published by Kalyani Publishers, Ludhiana which is very much useful for the preparation of ICAR competitive Exams. On her credit 6 books, 10 book chapters around 40 NAAS rated journal articles and more than 40 practical manuals for under graduate, post graduate of Master and Doctoral students pursuing statistics courses. Also served as a Referee in peer reviewed journals and an External Examiner in Statistics for various SAU's like KAU, PAU, TANUVAS, ANGRAU, PJSTAU, Pondicherry and Vivekananda University. As a Life Member in Indian Society of Agricultural Statistics (ISAS), Indian Society of Probability and Statistics (ISPS), International Indian Statistical Association (IISA), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Alumni Association (TNAUAA) and Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE) also Fellow Member in Indian Academic Researchers Association (IARA).
