Dr. A. Devaraj is currently working an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of History at Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi. He received his MA (History) from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, in 2008, MA (Sociology) from Tamilnadu Open University, Chennai, in 2009, MPhil(History) from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli in 2010 and Ph.D (History) from the same University in 2012. Both his M.Phil. and Ph.D. . dissertations focused on the History of the Lasalle Mission in Thoothukudi and Tamilnadu. He has teaching experience of more than 14 years in the areas of History and allied subjects. Subjects taught include Modern History, Indian Public Administration, Constitutional History of India, History of Europe, China, India and Tamilnadu. He has presented many research papers related to History at international and national levels. He has also published articles in the International Review of History Research Papers, Alochana Chakra Journal, Journal of Interdisciplinary Cycle Research, Journal of Modern Thamizh research, ICT Education, Aram Book House and several conference proceedings. His research area and interests include modern History, Muslims Education In Tamilnadu, Juvenile Justice In India - A Study, Devarattam - The Victorious Dance, Role Of Women In Disobedience Movement With Spl Net In Tamilnadu, Contribution Of Annie Besant And The Women Movement To The Freedom Struggle, Cultural Heritage As A Socio-Economic Development Factor, Hindu Women Rights In India, Archaeology and Tourism, Role of the Freedom Fighters struggle in Tamilnadu,
Women's Right to Education in India, Social Programmes for Women's and Government welfare schemes in Tamilnadu, Covid-19 and India, Digital media in Teaching and Learning. He acted as a resource person in many seminars and conferences. He organized conferences, seminars, webinars and workshops at state, national and international levels. He presented papers at meetings and conferences. His social activities are also excellent. He served various groups of heads like the RRC Coordinator, NSS Programme Officer, and Board of Studies member in many Institutions, Blood Donation clubs, District administration boards, etc. Some remarkable achievements are the Certificate of Appreciation to NSS Best Unit Programme officer Award by the Swatch Bharath Mission Programme cell, Thoothukudi, District Administration, and Thoothukudi. He was awarded as Best Programme Officer (NSS) in Manonmanium Sundarnar University, Tirunelveli, a Certificate of appreciation to Blood Donation Camp at Kamaraj College, Tamil Nadu State Aids Control Society & State Blood Transfusion Council, Chennai and awarded as National Level Best Programme Officer (NSS) awarded by Hon'ble President of India.
