Dr. R. Durai studied Linguistics at Master's level and received Ph.D under the precious supervision of Prof. N. Rajasekharan Nair, from Annamalai University (1995). He has been specialising in tamil syntax and Applied linguistics (Tribal Studies and sociolinguistics). He has published more than 20 research papers in the National, International journal and proceedings. He has guided one M.Phil and three Ph.D research scholars. He has completed 2 UGC-SAP Projects. He has published one book through Kalaignaan Pathipagam Chennai (Professor S. V. Shanmugam contribution to Tamil Mozhiyal). He is teaching linguistics at the post graduate level at the center of advanced study in Linguistics. Annamalai University since 2002.
