Dr. R. Mahesh is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, S. T. Hindu College, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. He has a teaching experience of more than 15 years and got a Specialization in Ethno botany and Plant Conservation. He won many awards including Dr. D. S. Kothari PDF in 2009, Best Poster Presentation in 2012, Best Young Scientist Award in 2016 and Best Biodiversity Conservationist Award in 2017.

He wrote 2 books and published more than 45 papers in Reputed National and International journals. He has also invited as a Resource person and presented more than 16 papers in National and International Seminar and conferences. He is a member in Editorial Board in 6 Indian Botany Journals. He also acted as a Guest speaker and delivered lectures in various colleges. He also holds the life membership in the Indian Science Congress Association and as a Scientific Consultant in Nature Research Foundation, Foundation of Innovative Science and Socio-Economic Development.
