Dr. Neeru Sewa (BA, BEd, MSO, PhD) is regarded as one of the most prominent Educationalist and Social Worker in the Sikkimese society. Her life history from a School Teacher to the Member of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly (2009-2014) has become a source of motivation and inspiration for the new generation. From the Sikkimese Scheduled Caste communities, she became first women elected as the Zilla Up-adakshya in the year 2007 and also the first women to become the Minister in the Sikkim Government in the year 2009. She is the first women to achieve the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the Damai community and also from the legislators who served the state of Sikkim. She attended many professional and academic training, seminars, workshops and conferences. She was one of the prominent Resource Person for discussion and delivery of lectures at different training programs, seminars, workshops and conferences of State and National levels. She is a member to several academic and professional bodies. On several issues related to women empowerment through Panchayati Raj, their political participation and representation in the Indian Parliament and State Assemblies, she had published several research papers in the reputed national and international journals while penned few books and contributed book chapters as follows:- Books 1.
