Dr. Poonam Kimta Chauhan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Rajiv Gandhi Government Degree College Chaura Maidan Shimla-4. She obtained a B.A. with honors from Panjab University, Ph. D (English), M. Phil. And has degrees in three subjects; English, journalism & mass communication and Education from H. P. University. She has seventeen years of experience in teaching and training at the Graduate And Post Graduate level. An ardent learner & empiricist. She has published many articles in national and international journals of literature. Currently, she is passionately writing about local issues of Himachal Pradesh, especially concerning Pahari women. Other Responsibilities: Counselor of English Vocational, career-oriented and personality development courses. Invitee Speaker in various Induction courses and orientation Programs at district and state level on various gender issues and women empowerment in Himachal Pradesh. Organizer of different local seminar/national and international conferences on various themes. Specialization/Research Interests: Womens Studies, Cultural Studies, Indian writing in English and translation, commonwealth literature, Feminism and Indian feminism. She has been felicitated and received numerous awards, such as: 1. Bharat Gaurav Award for Education Excellence 2022 2. Indian Women Empowerment Award 2023 Along with that, she has been guest of honor and judge in various literary activities in schools,colleges and universities in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
