Basic Information

Dr. Ritu Dhingra is the  Regional Vice Chair, East and Southern Asia- IUCN CEESP (International Union for Conservation of Nature -Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy) and is looking after the themes of IUCN CEESP in 23 countries of this region. She has over three decades of experience in researches  and publications related to environmental law, botany, biodiversity, forests, sustainable development, Indian traditions and environmental conservation. She has contributed chapter on indigenous population and biodiversity in Elgar Encyclopedia of Environmental Law series by Edward Elgar press. Her paper on biodiversity has been published in IUCN Academy of Environmental Law E-Journal. She holds a lawyer's license from Bar Council of Delhi. She has authored three books as a trilogy on environmental jurisprudence, floral biodiversity and Indian traditions and environmental conservation consecutively. Dr. Ritu holds a Ph.D in Environmental laws from The NorthCap University Gurugram, Haryana, India. She also has a Bachelor honours degree in botany from Kirori Mal college, University of Delhi, India, Bachelor's degree in law from Campus law Centre, University of Delhi, India, Post Graduate diploma in Environmental Law and Policy from National Law University Delhi and WWF Delhi. She has been awarded scholarships for summer schools and workshops on environmental law by universities like Hasselt University Belgium and Wuhan University, China. Recently she was invited as a speaker by Oslo University, Norway to present a paper on War and Environmental Destruction. She is the advisor at CDEEP (Centre for Development in Energy and Environment Policy) NorthCap University, Gurugram Haryana India. She is also the founder of ENVIRODELHI an environmental conservation establishment dedicated to promote sustainable living by promoting innovative ideas. She is a also member of IUCN five commissions IUCN WCEL,CEM, CEESP, CEC, WCPA, European Environmental Law Forum (EELF) and Bar Council of Delhi.
