Prof. R. Somashekar is currently working as Professor of Physics in RIE, Mysuru. He holds a Ph.D (1982). M.Sc. (1975) and B.Sc.(1973) from university of Mysore. He has been engaging in research work since 1976. He is a member, Executive council, Central university of Karnataka, Gulbarga. He has over 300 publications in reputed international journals to his credit. He has been teaching Electrodynamics, Matrices and tensors and Solid state physics to post graduate students for over 35 years. His main research interests are X-ray studies of manmade and natural polymers and physical properties of crystals and liquid crystals.
