Basic Information

Dr. Pavani Duddu, working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music, University of Hyderabad, is a Veena artiste with proficiency in Vocal music too. She secured a Gold Medal in M.A., (Music – Veena), has done her M.Phil., (Music) and was also awarded a Gold Medal for her Ph.D., (Music). She is a recipient of the Senior and Junior Research Fellowships awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in the field of Music. After having worked in the Finance departments of Corporate companies for about 10 years, she took to Music as her Profession and has been passionately into music research and education, teaching Carnatic Music Veena and Vocal to students of the Under-graduate and Masters Programmes in Music. She had served as the Associate Editor of ‘PRANAVAM’ a bi-lingual quarterly Music Magazine. She writes articles for music magazines in her own name and also under the pseudonym ‘Vallaki’. She has presented papers in International and National Seminars / Conferences, published research papers in peer reviewed journals and co-authored a few books on music. Apart from performances, she gives Lectures on musical and musicological aspects, adjudicates music competitions, organises music programmes and guides research work in music.
