The effects of obesity have become practically persistent all over the world. The study of obesity and related comorbidities endures to increase in scope. The recognition that obesity contributes to significant health care costs has come to the vanguard of medicine in all specialties. 

Ayurveda, the Indian system of medicine is an ancient science of diagnosis and treatment of various ailments. Obesity account for a great deal of misery, suffering, incapacity, and economic loss. Beside this, person suffering from obesity consider himself as a great handicap in the society. Ayurveda has its own principles of diagnosing and treatment of obesity under the head of Sthulya. 

The comprehension that obesity has such an impact on our society, and affecting slowly to most individuals, this book aims to provide an alternative framework for the management of this burning issue. It includes causes, management and prevention with specific focus on Ayurvedic and conventional interventions including yoga and diet to certain extent. Few resources exist for health care providers that compile a summarization of research and recommendations for care for patients with obesity. This book will serve as a resource for Ayurveda physician to further investigate their patients with obesity and offer better treatment modality to alleviate the cause. In short, this book is intended to represent a consolidation of information into one source.
