In recent years, the concept of microfinance has attracted the attention of researchers, academicians, market participants, policy makers and regulators. Present research book with title “Private Microfinance Institution and Poverty Eradication” is a result of my PhD work from University of Mumbai with an aim of exploration of role and contribution of Private Microfinance Institutions in poverty eradication. Objective of the book is to find out the role of microfinance in eradication of poverty. 

Poverty is the common obstacle in achieving the high growth in developing country. Eradication of poverty became prior object to achieve the expected growth. Government of India has been pursuing various schemes and programmes to eradicate poverty. Access of credit is necessary for the self-employment and to expand the existing livelihood. Formal financial Institutions are not reachable to them who are poor and creditworthy. Microfinance has given a way to tackle the problem of poverty. Microfinance is one of the tools which have become available in recent years for poverty eradication. 

The Scheme of Micro-finance has been found useful as an effective instrument for lifting the poor above the level of poverty by providing them increased self-employment opportunities and making them credit worthy. Microfinance is the provision of financial services to low-income clients, including consumers and the self-employed, who traditionally lack access to banking and related services.

The book has also included the social work intervention for the successful implementation of microfinance for poverty eradication and livelihood promotion. The detailed study is included in book will be helpful for the students, academicians, researchers and practitioner.
