It gives us great pleasure to present the book entitled "Botany for undergraduates" according to new syllabus as per choice-based credit system (CBCS) in the light of NEP-2020 issued by the universities of Jammu and Kashmir (University of Kashmir, University of Jammu, Cluster University Srinagar and cluster University Jammu). The book is basically written to meet the needs of B. Sc. Semester 1st students of these four universities.

This text book has been written in simple and lucid manner as to suit the needs of students. All the subject matter has been suitably illustrated with the help of simple and self-explanatory diagrams.

A book can hardly claim originality in content. The present book is no exception and is drawn heavily from earlier texts on Botany enlisted at the end of this book.
