Our population is growing, but the per capita availability of land and water resources are going down. It is obvious that we will have to produce more and more from less and less land and water. Growing demand must be met primarily by increasing production on land already under cultivation and by reducing losses due to diseases and pests. Increase in agricultural production is the key to all-over economic growth of the country.
