This book is a basic for students of Social Cultural Anthropology. The text is designed for introductory social and cultural anthropology at the undergraduate level. It deals primarily with the basic nature of social and cultural anthropology, presenting the key concepts and terminology of two sister areas of anthropology as per B.Sc.(General), and B.Sc. (Honours) syllabi of all the Indian Universities and States and National level Civil Service Examinations and other competitive examinations
The aim of the text is to give the students as beginners an introductory but thorough to the concepts of Social-Cultural anthropology. I request my beloved students colleagues and respected teachers to judge the success or failure of the book, not in terms of what a specialist can learn from it, but strictly as a introductory ‘teach yourself’ book. My expedition will be amply rewarded if the book is able to create interest in even a few readers to know something about the concepts and themes in social and cultural anthropology.
I dedicate this book to my dear father, mother and elder brother, Late Sri Bhupatiranjan Das, Smt. Sipra Das, Soumyajit Das respectively.
