Worldwide, the maternal and child deaths are soaring high. The reproductive health of women has been neglected since the ages. With the advent of knowledge and technology, the scenario of women’s health has been brought fore and discussed in the international and national platform.

The in-depth research work across the world made it clear that the health of the women is in peril. So, the various international conventions and countries have made commitment to the empowerment of women in social sectors.

The safe motherhood is one of the vital components of reproductive health of women. In India the maternal, infant and child morbidity and mortality are major issues in the development. The rates related maternal and child morbidity and mortality creates social and family problems and these problems are avoidable at certain extent.

This book discusses the services and practices related to the safe motherhood in the rural areas of Solapur district of Maharashtra. The research study was carried out in the year 2012-2014. The awareness and determinants of the phenomenon of safe motherhood was studied and the facts were put forth with the help of the statistics.
