Methodology of Programming and Programming in C is devoted to C programming. C Programming language is the premier programming language in software programming. The book gives an emphasis to the methodology of programming. This book gives the reader an entire life cycle of c programming - program’s conception, design, code, methods, debugging, release, documentation, maintenance, and revision. This book will be of use to anyone who is a beginner and aspires to learn the fundamentals of computer programming using C. It has been primarily written for students of academic courses which include the study of programming methodology in C.

C is a procedural programming language. It was initially developed by Dennis Ritchie as a system programming language to write operating system. The main features of C language include low-level access to memory, simple set of keywords, and clean style, these features make C language suitable for system programming like operating system or compiler development. Many later languages have borrowed syntax/features directly or indirectly from the C language. It is said that ‘C’ is a god’s programming language. One can say, C is a base for the programming. If you know ‘C,’ you can easily grasp the knowledge of the other programming languages that uses the concept of ‘C’.

The book is organized with introduction to programming in first unit with the basic programming concepts and also the classification and characteristics of programming languages. The second unit onwards programming in C starts and contains the character set, c tokens and operators. The third unit explains the input output statements in C and the control statements in C. arrays such as one dimensional and multi-dimensional arrays, strings and pointer concepts are discussed in unit four. The last unit deals with user defined functions, the concepts of structures and pointers.
