The term,  biomarker,  refers to measurable and quantifiable  biological parameters than  can serve as indicators for  health  and  physiology-related  assessments, such  as  pathogenic  processes, environmental  exposure, disease diagnosis  and  prognosis  or  pharmacologic responses to  a therapeutic intervention.
