Library administration means managing the performance of the operations and other activities of a library and then finally makes important decisions. Administration can be defined as the act or process of administering especially the management of a Government or large institution in order to achieve the goals and objectives. Library planning, administration and management involves progress of library management, types of libraries in the, present scenario, planning and administration of libraries, role of libraries as information resources Globalization, transition of information sources, library building, increase in the cost and quality of library services, the emergence of information and knowledge societies and modernization of libraries. These matters will therefore be touched upon only incidentally in this book. Furthermore, since the subject of the present book might well serve as the basis for an entire issue, the treatment accorded it here must be somewhat superficial and fragmentary. Under the circumstances, it has seemed desirable to concentrate on a few fundamentals and bring to bear on them such as enlightenment as the authors have gained from personal experience from a variety of studies.
