The Hospitality and Tourism industry has undergone a drastic holistic change in the last few years. These changes have had a 360-degree impact encompassing the hospitality and tourism sector's economic, socio-cultural, operational, and geographical aspects. Economic recession/inflation, the slowdown in business demand, safety & security issues arising from the pandemic situation (COVID-19), changes in customer taste and preferences, the declining attraction of the Hospitality and Tourism industry to the workforce, environment and sustainability issues, and lastly the rising influence of technology and innovation have contributed to the need for a change in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. These macro and micro level factors have forced policymakers, business analysts, academicians, industry players, and students to rethink the future path of running a successful Hospitality and Tourism venture.
The School of Hospitality Management, AURO University, Surat, organised its 3rd National Conference titled "Hospitality 2.0 - Reimagining the Hospitality and Tourism Space". This conference provided a platform for academicians, professionals, experts, and research scholars from all across the globe to share their valuable perspectives on key trends and challenges, which can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Hospitality and Tourism industry worldwide. CHTS 2022 aimed to investigate the causes and factors behind the challenges faced by the industry and unveil some probable and realistic solutions for the underlying issues and situations.
The aims of the CHTS 2022 were to provide an interdisciplinary forum for academics, researchers, industry experts, and students to share their perspectives and findings on the influence of COVID-19 on the hospitality and tourism industry. Augment and establish future research opportunities in the field of Hospitality and Tourism, strengthen the linkages between Research in Hospitality and Tourism and to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
It featured notable industry and academic experts from India and around the globe and implemented their valuable comments and words of wisdom in Hospitality and Tourism education. CHTS 2022 gave young, energetic and visionary researchers, academicians and industry experts the platform to follow the necessary steps to bring the pandemic-hit derailed Hospitality and Tourism sectors back on track.
