This textbook entitled, ‘Design of Experiments’ is prepared with the aim of satisfying the needs and the aspirants of agricultural students and researchers of different agricultural universities. This book is well-organized and covers the most important and essential aspects of designing the experiments and its applications in Agriculture. This book is easy to follow and it includes a wide range of applied problems. This book will enable the readers to understand the concepts of design of experiments in a lucid way as it is essential for the researchers and students of agriculture who are expected to know the statistical techniques of analyzing the experimental data and drawing inferences.  This book is useful in all fields of sciences such as agriculture, horticulture, forestry, veterinary, engineering and statistics including research and development operations. It is based on syllabi of various State Agricultural Universities (SAU’s) and other college-level courses in design of experiments. 

The Authors’ previous book entitled ‘Applied Statistics’ published by Kalyani Publishers, Ludhiana in the year 2010 and the second edition of the book revised in the year 2017 is exclusively designed for the students of statistical methods who have completed a first course includes at least some descriptive statistical methods, sampling distributions and sampling theory, testing of hypothesis, correlation and regression analysis. Now this book should be included in a second course on statistics, focusing on the statistical design of experiments for undergraduate, postgraduate students in Agriculture, Engineering, Physical and Chemical sciences, Statistics, Mathematics and other fields of science. These examples are taken from many diverse areas of science especially on Agriculture and are focused on real-world implementations of experimental nature. Also this book serves as a textbook in conventional universities where statistics is being taught as separate papers in the fields of life sciences like Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, etc.
